Maybe it's happening with the person you love most. You and your partner keep having the same argument, even though you swear it was resolved last time. You've started walking on eggshells, worried a small thing will turn into a fight. Or you're the one who reaches out first, over and over, wondering when it'll be reciprocated. Somewhere along the way, you stopped feeling like a team.
Or maybe the disconnect is with yourself. Life has once again shifted — a loss, an illness, a transition you didn't choose. You don't quite recognize who you've become: someone smaller, more careful, more critical of yourself and you'd like to find your way back to yourself.
Whatever it may be, you don't have to figure this out alone.

Our relationships can be a safe haven — and sometimes they become where we feel most alone.
Hello! I'm Elise.

I'm a individual and couples therapist in Boulder, CO, and relationships are my specialty. I help couples, families, and individuals navigate life's challenges, strengthen their connections, and create more joy and satisfaction with the people they love and within themselves.
I approach this work with warmth, curiosity, and deep respect for each person’s unique story, helping clients create relationships that feel more authentic, fulfilling, and aligned with who they are.
I bring a grounded, authentic presence into our sessions. I'll ask thoughtful questions, hold space for the hard stuff, and also bring a little humor in. My hope is for therapy to feel collaborative, approachable, and deeply human. I show up as a real person in the room (not a blank slate), so that you can feel welcome to do the same.
You might be here because...
Individual Therapy
~The same patterns keep happening in your relationships and you can't seem to figure out why, or how to change them
~You spend so much time thinking about what other people want you’ve lost touch with your own needs or how to ask for them
~You overthink interactions, second-guess yourself, or struggle to trust your own thoughts and feelings
~You have reactions that feel bigger than you expect — shutting down, becoming defensive, feeling overwhelmed, or saying things you wish you hadn’t
~You struggle with self-esteem, self-criticism, or anxiety, and want to build more self-compassion and healthier ways of relating
Couples Therapy
~You keep having the same arguments over and over again, even when you've talked it through and thought it was resolved
~One small comment turns into a much bigger fight before either of you fully understands how it happened
~You feel unheard, misunderstood, or like you and your partner are speaking different languages
~You have a hard time expressing your needs without criticism, defensiveness, withdrawal, or shutting down — and neither of you meant for it to go that way
~Trust has been broken, resentment has quietly built up, or you feel more like roommates than partners who are truly connected

I work with folks of any gender expression, sexual orientation, race, religion, culture, size, and ability.
Ways We Can Work Together

The Roots of the Practice
My approach is rooted in trauma-informed attachment-based therapy; the belief that our early experiences shape how we relate to ourselves and others. The past has a way of staying with us, showing up in patterns we often don’t understand until we bring them into the light.
Often there are stories we tell ourselves about who we are, what we deserve, and how relationships work. Together, we look at those stories and beliefs to create space for new ways of connecting to ourselves and to others.
I pay close attention not just to the challenges, but to the strengths, those inner resources and adaptive strategies that have helped you navigate life so far. Identifying and building on those strengths is key to creating change that lasts.
